The Rationalist 8/29/'06

The differences between the Puritans and the Rationalist is simply thier beliefs. Rationalists believes everything can be explain through science. Puritans believes things are the way they are because God made them that way. Rationalists would have believe today the reasons for the hurricane season would be because of global warning, and the earth's rotation. Puritans in today's time would have believe the reason for hurricane seasons is because God is punishing the world.

Franklin's thirteen names of virtues is a good example of how Franklin is a Rationlist.This thirteen names of virtures, like Franklin said is a perfect way to reach moral perfection. Like people of today and history, Franklin found that he would not always do one thing and avoid another. Habit took the advantange of inattention. Inclination was too strong for reason. Then concluded, at length, that were speculative conviction that it was our insterest to be completely virtuous was not sufficient to prevent our slipping, and that the contrary habits must be broken, and good ones acquired and established, before we can have any dependence on a steady uniform rectitude of conduct.

My thriteen names of virtues would be the same as Benjamin Franklin. Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Indsutry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquillity, Chastity, and Humility would be my thirteen steps to reach moral perfection. With these steps and my dedication, I can reach moral perfection by simply letting time pass me by. My temperance is very good, I'm always silence till spoken to, and order is something out of this wotld. I have master form of resolution, frugality, and sincerity that really stands out of me. As well too, my justice, moderation, cleanliness, and tranquillity affects the very peolpe around me. The only thing I would have to keep up the good work on is my chastity and humility, which I can only say to is that "I'm only a human being".

In the Declaration of Independence there are some thoughts and ideas that I wish to point out and explain. Here in the very begining of the declaration we hear a rationalist thought," When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them". This proves that they were not of the old ways of puritans beliefs, the rationalist were just as they were called "rational people". Here's aother thought of the rationalist just in the begining of second paragraph, " We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". This whole sentence clearly says their everything the Puritans are not, in a complete and oppsitie form fo people. A final thought found of the raionalist in the declaration would be thier divine providence,"with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence".

The Human Body
The human body is the most complex machine that has ever been made. This complex machine contains four main parts that make that human body work: the skeleton, the nervous system, the organs, and the muscles. All together they make the human body a machine with unlimited possibilities. First I will explain how the skeleton plays its importance role in the human body. Then I will follow with the nervous system, including the brain, organs, and muscles. From inside out the human body will come alive in your very eyes.

First starters the skeleton, which protects our brain, heart and enables the body movement. When humans are first born their skeleton is soft and undeveloped, but as mouths go by they take form and harden. After being born the human bones get stronger and harder til adulthood. As the body ages form childhood to adult the bones take much damage. The cranium, which protects the brain, may take many bumps and hits, but this is only normal. If the cranium was cracked, it can heal over time, and so the brain can still remain healthy and protected. For the ribs, the same apply to them. They protect the heart, the lungs, and organs of the body. This is the role for the skeleton in the human body.

The next working function in the human body would be the nervous system. All the nerves and nerve cells outside your central nervous system make up your peripheral nervous system. Its task is to relay information from your brain and spinal cord to the rest of your body and from your body to the spinal cord and brain. The peripheral nervous system consists of 12 pairs of cranial nerves and also contains 31 pairs of spinal nerves which branch off from your spinal cord to the rest of the body. Because of this, the human body is allow to feel cold, heat, and pain from the lightest of touch to full contact. Now you tell me how many machines can feel pain. "Ouch".

Now we have come to the engine in the human body, the organs. Like an engine the organs take in fuel such as air and food to keep the human body running. The parts that does this includes is the lungs, heart, liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, large intestine, small intestine, and bladder. All these parts work on their own specific tasks in the body. The lungs take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide. The heart pumps the blood in the body. The liver cleans the blood. The stomach and large and small intestine takes in food and breaks it down. The kidneys clean the urine, and the spleen cleans the blood destroying old red blood cells and fights infection. You tell me any machine in the world that does this naturaly. "Sure you could program a computer to do the same thing, but thats the thing, you program the computer the computer did not program itself."Since when we have to tell our stomachs to digest food when you eat. Or tell your heart to pump more blood to your body when your running. Our organ system does this on its own without us even knowing it. Our mind may tell what our body to do, but our body has a mind of its own.

Finally we get to what make’s the human body move and looks good, the muscles. If you ever think the muscles push and pull well your wrong about one thing and right about the other. Muscles pull and relax; there is no pushing that the muscles do in the human body. Skeletal muscles only pull in one direction. For this reason they always come in pairs. When one muscle in a pair contracts, to bend a joint for example, its counterpart then contracts and pulls in the opposite direction to straighten the joint out again. Without this arrangement of your muscles you wouldn't be able to straighten your legs when you walk or bend your fingers to grip something.

So this concludes my Analysis of the Human Body. I have broken down this complex machine to four main parts of its function in the human body. Through the skeleton, nerves system, organs and muscles the human body is by far the most advanced living machine ever to be created. So the next time your car breaks down or your computer crash, just remember your body is the by far best machine by far created, and long as you keep it healthy it’ll keep you running and lifetime long.

The Puritans 8/8/`06

Puritans had a belief of total depravity in which they though through Adam and Eve’s fall; every person is born in sin. Basically everybody was going to go to hell in there eyes, all but the predestination which God only had a few selected for salvation. So the people hoping to be one among the saved examined their inner lives closely for signs of grace, and behave in as exemplary manner as possible. They also believe that the clergy or church could act as an intermediary between the individual and God. In Puritan view, a contract, or covenant existed between God and humanity. In so because of this they prepare the ground for later growth in America democracy.

The Puritans lived a harsh and crazy life. Though some of their beliefs are understandable like all are born sinners and all must strive to receiver his irresistible grace. That God’s wrath and reward are also present in natural phenomena like flooding, bountiful harvest, the invasion of locusts, and the lightening striking a home. To the point where this would run their way of life, but not all things were mint to last. As the world grew older so would the puritans’ beliefs and ideals toward their new world. Now a person would a natural desire to do good and a growth of rationality for themselves. Already the people were on the emerge toward a new salvation that would lead them into a world of rationality.

"Sinners in the hands of a Angry God" was a sermon writen form Jonathan Edwards. This man insame brilliants did exactly what his sermon was suppuse to do, which was to sarce the living hell out of people. I feel what he"s saying but maybe he was a little too harsh or the people just took his sermon the wrong way.In my point of view, his sermon is how we look at the world today. That God has laid himself under no obligation, by any promise to keep any men out of hell or promise to eternal life.
"History of the Plymouth Plantation" tell the pilgrims beleifs as they cross over to the new land and meet the local natvies. They still had a total depravity in which they even taught to the natvie Americans. Also the irresistlble grace that God holds for all those who strvie towards his will. w all they have to do is glorify God and make him more relevant to the universe.
Unconditional Election :And here is to be noted a special providence of God, and a great mercy to this poor people. Irresistible Grace: So they committed themselves to the will of God and resolved to proceed. Limited Atonement :yet God gave them a morning of comfort and refreshing ( as usually He doth to His children).

The puritans had a form of writing call Plan style which was strong, simple, and loical. The pruitans believe that God revealed his prupose to humanity in three principal ways: throught the Bible, throught the natural world, and throught Divine Providence. What makes me think they wrote in this form is because they would it to be taken seriey. They didn't wanted to make it pleasurable nor taken this way.
